Community Meeting Oct. 26: Update on Facilities Planning

Photo - Facilities Word CloudOn Thursday, October 26 the district will host another meeting to update the community on its long-term, district-wide facilities planning project. The meeting will be held at Henry Sibley High School.

Attendees may choose one of two sessions being offered:

Session #1: 6-7 p.m.
Session #2: 7-8 p.m.

The same information will be presented at both sessions.

Throughout the night, participants will learn about the work of the Facilities Task Force which has been studying each school building to identify:
- necessary structural and mechanical maintenance upgrades
- learning spaces that do not meet today’s educational needs
- opportunities to better accommodate co-curricular activities and programs 

 In addition to making improvements for students, the proposed projects at each building have been developed with the community in mind. Planning has taken into consideration facility use before and after school, in the evenings, on weekends and during the summer by area residents of all ages.

Building tours of Henry Sibley High School will be part of the program on Oct. 26 and the information presented during the event will cover all schools (K-12).

This meeting is a great opportunity for parents and community members who may not be familiar with the facilities planning project to learn more and provide feedback. There will also be information for those who have been closely following the planning, even those who attend the Sept. 28 community meeting.

Childcare will be available for children ages 3 and older. Spanish interpreters will also be available.
